President's Message

Dear Members

     I would first like to thank all of the members that gave us a hand at the recent Ultimate Fishing Show in Novi.  It seemed to be a good turnout and I know while I was there it was a good time.  We have a few more shows coming up just today we decided to go ahead and have a booth at the Outdoor Rama.  We will be sharing the booth with one of our clubs Nemesis Baits, there exceptional product will be available at our booth.  Make sure to stop by the booth and thank them for helping us be a part of this great show.

     One of the things that came from us being at the Novi Show is we are teaming up with the Michigan Steel Headers club in a petition drive that shows are support for the battle over keeping Asian Carp out of the Great Lakes.  One of the huge battles going on right now has to do with the closure of a canal that is used for ship traffic in and out of Chicago.  We need to let our state know that we are standing behind their efforts to close this water way or to come up with better ways to keep the carp from traveling this waterway.   I am learning a lot now about this problem and when I get new information I will pass it on.

     Our membership drive is working well and we are gaining some new members still every week I believe we have 125 paid adult members with like 15 more registered and just waiting for payments.  There is also a rumor of another existing club coming on board bringing around 10 more members.  Please do not stop getting new members now as we are getting close to our goal.  Remember the free championship has been extended I misspoke and said March 1^st but I meant April 1^st so that we can offer this to all the people we meet at the upcoming shows.

     Speaking about the upcoming shows I will need help at the Outdoor Rama Feb 25-28 if you would like to help let me know or if your entire club wants to take it for a full day that is also very helpful.  For the show in Grand Rapids I have all Saturday taken by a local club there I will be there on Sunday with some help I really need help on Thursday and Friday, if you can help please let me know.

     We should know about our grant for our conservation project in the next few weeks.  Either way we will be looking to work on this early in March I would like to know what works better for help Sat. or Sun. We will be building the structures to be placed in the water sometime in the early summer.  We also could use a place to take care of this if anyone has a place to build and or store these let me know.
